A YEAR IN REVIEW

Events and Achievements

  • MAP members testified on the floor of the State Assembly for the Compassionate California Resolution, ACR 108.

  • MAP participated in a record number of legislator meetings at the offices of Assemblymember Evan Low, Senator Kamala Harris, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, and more.

  • Gun Violence Prevention hosted presentations in junior religion classes. This marks the first time content created by MAP has been featured in the school curriculum. Following that, the Mental Health team introduced a mental wellness curriculum into all religion classes.

  • Members of MAP traveled to Washington, DC, where they presented a record number of policy proposals to various legislators, representing an unprecedented number of issues within the proposals.

  • Members of MAP had the opportunity to participate in various field trips throughout the year, such as the Farmworker Reality Tour, Delancey Street, and the San Jose Youth Climate Strike March.

  • MAP members Ashir Raza and Jason Chen spoke at the Youth Climate Strike March for San Jose alongside Assemblymember Ash Kalra.

  • MAP Vice President Arushi Lahiri was invited to speak at Gen-UP’s March For Education.

  • MAPx hosted a voter registration booth for students on campus, achieving the record for the most registrations of any high school in the Santa Clara County.

  • The Gun Violence Prevention team carried out GVP Week, where they hosted a workshop, speaker panel, and letter-writing drive.

  • MAPx prepared infographics about each candidate running for the 2020 Presidential Election, which were distributed among every senior Social Studies class
